Music & Performing
I love how much sonwriting, singing, playing music, playing with a band, connecting with music lovers, other artists, people of all ages, my community...and on and on....has changed my whole life.
Music has and always will be as essential to my day to day as food air and water. I feel connected to it and through it and want to share that feeling with anyone who finds it in my sound. My collaborators are all close friends and when I play with my bands it truly feels like we are sharing that love with everyone who joins us.
Other things about me
I am a caretaker, former farmer, runner, sun-soaker, hopeful surfer, transformer, creator of weird wearables, kayaker, hiker, tiny flower appreciator, friend of the animals.
I met my soul dog, Taffy, when she was 8 and we fell in love and took daily trips to the river together. A year later she needed a new family and Miles and I were lucky to spend her last 6 years soaking up her joy and silliness. She loved hanging out in our music studio, many sessions were at her prompting - she'd walk there from our house and insist we go in. She sat in on every band rehearsal or solo writing session that took place there. She is gone but she is a big part of any song I've ever written.
As someone who has been making music a long time but came to the public performance and sharing part much later than most - one of my favorite things about sharing my music is when it inspires someone else to set their voice free. I love sharing the tools and techniques that I've used to fully shed my previously very physical and debilitating stage fright with others.
I am in recovery from breast cancer - I've had a bilateral mastectomy (and hysterectomy due to fibroids and endometriosis) and will happily connect with anyone about these things for the healing of shared experience.
I live in New York state in the Hudson Valley and have a lifelong connection to the Berkshires.
